Reflections of a First: 4K Launch at The Masters

As part of DIRECTV’s pioneering move into 4K broadcasting—marking a first in live sports—the Masters Tournament served as the debut event. I helped develop a billboard execution designed to inform on-site attendees that 4K was now available, exclusively through DIRECTV. Strategically placed near high-traffic tournament locations, the billboard served both as a tech announcement and brand differentiator.

A Bold Visual Language for Unmatched Clarity

The creative featured ultra-polished, hyper-realistic 3D typography in a mirrored chrome finish—an intentional metaphor for the clarity and sharpness of 4K resolution. The execution not only stood out visually in a traditional golf environment, but it also became the centerpiece of DIRECTV’s broader 4K rollout campaign. Its success led to the concept being extended across additional marketing channels as the brand continued to expand its ultra-HD offering.
